If you head over to the main website, you should see I updated the website and included (or edited) images in Foreigners in Paradise, Asleep at Sea, and Discarded Delights. Also, I finally added a mailing list form in the Contact page, so if you wanna keep up with what I’m up to, fill the form out.

Recently I’ve been honored to be asked to join Nymphoto. I jumped on the opportunity since it was my chance to have a community that’ll motivate me as well as be part of something meaningful. It’s hard coming out of college, without a job, and wondering, “so I am suppose to be doing something….” I really could not understand how artists motivated themselves to keep production flowing. After meeting the members and seeing how much I can learn and contribute to the collective and to myself, I regained my confidence to keep working. I’m seriously in great company (Nina, Rona, Candace, Maria, Margot, Talia, and Melanie). Sometimes you need that kick in the rear.

Anyways, I’m the Featured Artist this time around on Nymphoto’s main website. Check the blog for weekly conversations with fellow female photographers. I think it’s a great resource to have!

I’ve had the idea of selling some of my prints online for awhile. Now is the time to launch such a project, especially since finances are rough right now. I’m limiting the selection to 3 images because this is only the beginning. Hopefully, those of you who enjoy my work would be kind enough to purchase a print. Go to the store~

There is also an option to donate. Why donate?

I am currently a senior at Syracuse University, preparing for my BFA Solo Thesis Show on May 3rd. Like many college students, I am immensely in debt from the costs of film, processing, developing, and printing. Frames cost money. Mounting costs money. The space I rented cost money. This is all for a solo show featuring my photographic series on my family. I do not ask my family for money as they are a working class family who struggle enough to put me through a private university. So, any little bit will help me. Thank you! For those who donate $15 or more will receive a 5″x7″ print in the mail.

**International buyers: I set up Paypal to only accept US addresses but if you’re interested, please just drop me an email at store@janetam.com for shipping prices.

**update: I added two more images up for sale. There are also now 5×7 prints available for photo-illustrations.

**Super thanks to Herman, Nina, Jen Snow (for Jen Bekman), Noel, Kelly, and Timothy for linking my store.

**update: Added three more images for sale. Had to change prices a little bit due to the realization of the budget needed to produce my show. If my department would help a little, just a little, that would ease it up a bit but the Art Photo department in Syracuse never really did get much funding.. -_-

Can I Come Home with You?

As you can see the blog has packed up its bags at blogger and moved to its new home at janetam.com. There will be many many new updates within the following weeks as I process new images and new projects.

The life of a senior pursuing her BFA in Art Photography thus far has been a tough ride. With some professional practice in the field, I feel it’s definitely not enough until I actually am tossed out there with no classroom to back me up. So here comes the job hunting. Digital labs, assisting, studios, darkrooms (the very very few in NYC), etc.

Along with the job hunting comes the question of getting my work out there. Out there, out there. With my body of work, mainly Welcome Home, the process of applications after applications for grants, shows, and photo conferences begins. It’s already begun with my nod to the SPE Regional.

Then, when things slow down; whether it be exposure (if lucky to have any) or my motivation, do I go to grad school next? Many professors and mentors have said I need to but I’m pretty sure the need to explore my options further is a priority.

I’ll keep thee posted.

well well well

It’s true. http://janetam.com is mine and currently up and running. So please support me and check out my work. More will be updated.

SPE Regional was absolutely fantastic, especially being my first photo-conference. There were some great constructive criticism that I very much needed. Lots of awesome people to meet. Thanks to everyone for all their support and congratulations.
