Last April I finished a project for my Book Arts class, in which I used photographs from my family series and merged illustrations I created from found family photographs. Every image was printed digitally except the cover, which is hand silk-screened. There are many plans in my head to make more books. Be on the look out.

Photography sure is an important aspect of my life now but being in art school (almost all my life) has allowed me to appreciate and experiment with all different forms of creating art. One of my favorite mediums to dabble in is printmaking. Mind you, I hated printmaking in high school and I chose a printmaking studio in my sophomore year in college because no other studio would fit my schedule. What was frustrating in high school was most likely due to me not being exposed to anything inspirational or to be exact, to be exposed to not enough.

Inspiration has to come from somewhere. Motivation needs to be inspired. Whenever I’m feeling a little stumped or lazy, I turn on the geek and go to town surfing the internet, go to the library with no goal, watch some favorite movies, and/or go to galleries. Then production begins and it should not feel like a chore. Now if only I felt that way about writing endless papers and presentations.
