Jane Tam, 譚 珍 玲, (b.1986) grew up in the neighborhood of Bensonhurst in Brooklyn, NY. Her parents immigrated to New York City in the mid 1970s from Guangdong, China and took up blue-collar jobs such as truck driving and working in sweatshops in Chinatown. Most of her photographic work explores the weaving of Chinese and American cultures and how it defines many offspring of working class immigrants.

Jane has exhibited nationally and internationally. She was awarded with the Emerging Photographer Award at the Pingyao Photography Festival in China. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from Syracuse University in which she graduated with Magna cum Laude honors. She is also a member of Nymphoto, a women’s photography collective in New York City.

Currently, Jane is based in New York City and continuing her multiple series.
